## Mold Testing

There are a number of different types of mold and mildew that can be found in and around homes or other public buildings. Therefore, if you have found any of the common signs of mold in your home or building, you may be looking for a mold remediation company to perform mold testing in your building. Because any of the types of mold or mildew that commonly grow in homes and other buildings can potentially produce harmful symptoms and negative side effects on a person’s health, Advanced Environmental Services does not recommend mold testing to determine the types of mold that are present. Instead, we recommend a complete mold inspection, which focuses on determining all of the areas where mold is growing and eliminating the problems that resulted in the growth of mold, followed by [mold remediation](https://aes.multisites.ai/mold-remediation) services.

## Mold Inspection Process

As a leading [mold remediation company](https://aes.multisites.ai/mold-remediation-company), we offer complete mold inspection services for our clients. A thorough mold inspection involves determining where mold is growing and what problems contributed to this growth. By taking a complete approach to mold remediation, including determining the causes of mold growth during an initial mold inspection, we can help eliminate future mold problems. Additionally, because mold spreads through air-borne spores, it is important to find all of the areas of mold growth in order to ensure that all mold problems are resolved.

## Finding Mold During a Mold Inspection

During a mold inspection from our professional mold remediation and inspection teams, we will locate all of the areas where mold is growing in your home or business. Mold can be found almost anywhere and can grow on nearly any surface; however, mold is commonly found growing in damp, dark locations. While each inspection is different depending on each customer’s symptoms and problems, the following are some of the main areas that we search during our mold inspections:

- Inside Cabinets

- Beneath Drywall

- Behind Floor Baseboards

- In Basements & Crawl Spaces

- In Water-Damaged Areas

- In or Near Rooms with High Relative Humidity

- Above Ceilings

- Beneath Bathroom or Kitchen Sinks

- Behind Wallpaper

- On Damp Window Frames

- Inside Wall Cavities

- Beneath Flooring

- In Ductwork & HVAC Systems

## Locating Causes of Mold Problems

Because Advanced Environmental Services is dedicated to improving the overall indoor environment for our clients, our mold inspection process includes not only locating mold growth, but also determining the causes for mold growth in a home, office building, commercial building, or industrial plant. By determining the causes of mold growth, we can take steps to eliminate these problems during the mold remediation process. The following are some of the common contributing factors for mold growth in buildings that we see during mold inspections:

- High Humidity: A relative humidity of greater than 55% promotes the growth of mold and other types of fungi, and humidity levels can vary from room to room due to artificial heating and cooling. Using humidity sensors and running dehumidifiers will help monitor and control mold, reducing the chance of mold problems in the future.

- Water or Pipe Leaks: Because mold needs moisture to grow, many mold problems originate from water leaks that are not address and resolved quickly. Mold from these types of leaks is often found during mold inspections in hard-to-find places such as in wall or ceiling cavities.

- Flooding or Water Damage: Following a flood or major water damage, it is common for mold to grow throughout a building. This is largely because the building takes days or weeks to dry, giving colonies of mold the ideal opportunity for growth.
